After Pocket, start with what you still have.

Pocket shut down July 8, 2025. Mozilla’s current notice dates export closure, API disablement and the start of data deletion to November 12, 2025 (closure notice). This is a recovery guide for retained exports, not a comparison between live services. KnowMan is a knowledge base to evaluate for your next workflow.

Separate the service closure from the export deadline

July 8, 2025 was the shutdown date. November 12, 2025 was the later export closure and API disablement date in Mozilla’s current dedicated notice. Keeping those dates separate matters: a July cutoff would describe the recovery window incorrectly (Mozilla closure notice).

The export service is now closed according to that notice. Work from a file you already retained rather than following instructions that assume you can request a new export. This page cannot establish whether a particular account’s data remains recoverable (Mozilla closure notice).

Inspect the retained file before choosing a destination

Mozilla documents a final CSV export workflow covering saves, archives and favorites. It also states that article body text is excluded. A list of saved links and an archive of complete articles are different things; check what your file contains before planning the next step (export documentation).

Keep an untouched original and inspect a copy. Look at the columns, sample entries and any accompanying files. Note what you need to preserve, such as a title, URL or annotation. Your own file is the evidence for what survived; do not assume every export version contains identical fields.

Treat import support as a separate question

KnowMan lists Pocket as an import source. The supplied product facts do not specify accepted Pocket file formats or field mappings. This page therefore gives no CSV upload procedure and makes no promise that every tag, highlight or archived state will transfer.

Before uploading a retained file, confirm that its format is accepted by the current importer. Keep the original and inspect a representative sample afterward. Check the fields that matter to you individually. A successful upload should not be treated as proof that every item or piece of metadata transferred.

Preserve a fair picture of the historical product

Pocket Premium historically included unlimited highlighting and full-text search. Its suggested-tags feature offered existing tags for users to select and apply. Those documented features belong in any historical account, rather than a blanket claim that highlighting was limited or tagging lacked assistance (Premium FAQ, suggested tags).

That history can help you name the habits you want to keep. Write down the actions you used most, then evaluate a new workflow against those actions. You do not need a promise of complete feature parity to make a careful, useful choice.

Evaluate KnowMan as your next knowledge base

KnowMan reads saved articles in full, organizes them automatically and answers questions with citations from your reading. Free includes unlimited saving, full-text search, highlights and annotations without limits, plus five Ask questions a day. Open citations and check whether the sources support the answer.

Memories keep decisions and their reasons beside the reading behind them. Connected Claude, Codex, Cursor and your own MCP agents can search, read, ask and save through six tools. Agents can read Memories but cannot write them. Test this with a small set of sources before making it part of your routine.

Choose a plan and keep an export habit

Every KnowMan account starts with 14 days of Pro without a credit card. Pro costs $12.99 a month or $99 a year and includes semantic search, Ask without the daily limit, feeds, newsletters, ingestion rules, summaries, API access and export to Obsidian, Logseq and EPUB.

After the trial, you can stay on Free and keep your saves; search uses keywords rather than meaning. During the trial, check the export destination you expect to use. Keep retained source files until you have verified the content you need. No service-longevity guarantee replaces checking your own recoverable copy.

Questions people ask

Was Pocket’s export deadline July 8, 2025?

No. Mozilla’s current dedicated closure notice identifies November 12, 2025 as the export closure date. July 8, 2025 was the service shutdown (official notice).

Does a retained export contain full article text?

Mozilla says its final documented export workflow did not include article body text. Inspect your retained file before treating it as a complete content archive (export documentation).

Will KnowMan preserve every field?

That guarantee is not established. Confirm accepted file formats, keep the original and verify the specific content and metadata you need before relying on a complete transfer.
